I was wondering, does anybody else who uses coated strings think they cut the highs too much, thanks, mum maybe I should go back to the uncoated. What do you think? Are medium guage strings really that much heavier than lights?

I think the coated Elixsor (sp) strings that I bought in my usual gauge for my acoustic seems stiffer that the D'Addario strings I'm used to.

I use Martin Marguis on my Takamine but they are only bright for a gig, I need to switch to coated strings myself

For me, coated strings are only used on guitars that I don't play that often. I like them on acoustics and tolerate them on electrics. Overall I think we are getting close to a good coated string that doesn't diminish tone and responsiveness. Think of the early offerings a few years back they kinda felt like they were dipped in wax and stiff.

Now we just see a little tone change and a little stiff.

elixers are fantastic...great tone for my accoustic. i'm using the medium ligh gauge and my electic i have them light gauge.

my local guitar store got me to try some other coated strings, which were not even close..i won't mention that string manufactures name for it might be taken as a plug.
