i,m not sure if anybody went, but it was great!!! the scene was awesome, all the bands were great, and every one i met was sharing and kind, it sorta felt like a dead show circa 1982. i thought the highlights of the weekend were DSO, Zero, Dicky Betts, and Mickey Hart. P-Funk ripped it up with the funk,.Bob Weir was his typical self, stopping the elevator at every floor, but the penthouse, were i reside, but still rockin! so whats next? PHIL @ NOKIA, NYC please dont be suprised if you find me dreamin too!

oh yeah vibes was intense.. DSO, Dickie Betts, Pfunk, Deep Bananna Blackout, Fungus Amungus, Keller Williams, Bob Wier, Wailers and Buddy guy were my highlights, oh yeah that and the purple crystalline...

it was a bummer tho i left the last day for a quick ride for smokes (7 bucks a pack in the gates) and when i got back security wouldn't let me in, they made me park up the street, in town, go unpack my campsite, carry EVERYTHING to my car, and then drive my car 2 miles to a parking area, then walk back for the wailers. They said it was the police orders because things were so congested and there were so many people or some other stupid stuff like that.. but i did the deed, and got back in time to twist up some shishkaberry and head to the wailers..

I really liked being on the water, ill sureley be back next year.. Now to plan for harvestfest in maine and phil lesh in boston :)

I was dissapointred with p-funk. George Clinton sounded like he was smoking crack for hours before the show. Bobby was good but not great. the second set was fire though, dark star, st. stephen, the eleven always good. But the vibes isn't all about the music, I got to see some friends that I hadn't seen for a while so I just hope PHIL is there next year. can't wait till the Nokia shows!

He probably was....

I saw them before and was extrememely unimpressed as well. They're old and washed up in my mind. I don't even think you could pay me to go to see them live. My buddy said the same thing when he saw them @ The Vibes.

well maybe it was the liquid kalidescope that made the world of pfunk so intense for me.. les claypool kinda sucked tho...

and yes i hope lesh is there next year too.. long with bobby and mickey.. lesh and freinds blows ratdown outta the water for me. .you just cant get a bass to punch you in the balls like phil can, although yes i was peaking so hard and realized, wow were in some whacky jazzed up version of darkstar.. then i got lost on the way to the beer tent =)

no i wouldn't pay to go see pfunk, but ill see him if he's lined up at a festie, as long as he's not coinciding with a keller or a bobby or something like that..

honestly deep bananna blackout may have been the best show all weekend (aside from darkstar who's terrapin->dancin in the street had me flyin in the sky

yea, i guess you had to be funked up to really bring on the funk, either way PLF @ nokia is Gonna be hot!!I CANT WAIT , PLF is much better than ratdog, although i met a lot of new friends at the vibes, and Mickey Hart was the BOMB !!

I would love to hear about Buddy Guys set from anyone who was there.

honestly i cant remember his set, it was the end of a LONNGGG weekend with almost no sleep.. but i remember it was badass (i was just layin on the grass near the vendors smokin weed, was too burnt out to go dance in the field)

buddy is so psychadelic with the blues.. not in a hendrix way, but in a "psychadelic before psychadelic" way..

anybody stay for los lobos? i skipped out on that one ;)

the thing about pfunk is they are hit or miss.
the first 3 times I saw them was at colleges, big crowds of all white people and i thought the shows kind of sucked, some good points but overall bad.

Than I saw him at Toads place in CT and it was like seeing another band. Toads is a club with a smaller crowd of about 1/2 black people 1/2 white people.
Seeing him in a small club when he is on, he throws down a show.
Seriosly one of the best show ive ever seen in my life, i think it was the hardest i ever got down.

I think Pfunk is still good, u just ahve to see them at small placs where their will be some black people. It seems like he just isn't into it when he's playing for a giant crowd of white people. He is probably just doing those shows for th $ at this point.

I would like to say one thing about him smoking crack before shows.
I hink u guys have it the exact opposite of reality. I would be willing to be that before the toads place show that I was talking about he was smoking crack, and before the otehrs he wasn't.

THink about it, someone who smokes crack for years is obvosly going to be better when they are on crack than when they are trying to quit.
