Hello first post and needing some direction.
Anyhoo, I just Re-pupped a PRS SE Semi-hollow 22 fret with Super 2s so my south coils get partial splits with toggles. 1.2 and 2.2k resistors worked really nice.
I have another PRS SE Custom 24 fret coming and this time I'll route in a middle pickup and again install toggles and a 5-way. Maybe look more into a 7-way blade switch see if I can not only get the middle isolated, but also have neck + bridge like a 3-way switch allows.
So my issue, to fit a Super 2 in the middle I'll have to squeeze it in. Looking at the PRS Super Eagle II got me thinking, use a mini humbucker in place of a full Super 2. But what mini will give me that or close to that tone full and when split? Any thoughts? I really want that Super 2 in a mini size basically and it's a low cost build, so not really looking to go to a maker, but off the shelf if possible.
This time I think it will be best to partial split all so North coils are active. That should not cause polarity issues and the pickups sit closer to bridge than a 22 fret anyway. Unless it would be possible to get Greeny option by running Neck South coil and Middle North coil active? Maybe someone knows?
Currently on the 22f semi-hollow I tend to stick to the neck south active and full bridge or just neck alone. The super 2 neck with a 1.2k just seems real nice.
Thanks to all for any mini humbucker thoughts as that's less cutting on the deck and gives that cool Super Eagle look.
Thanks Ed
