I used the materials on hand when I decided to start this, and took some liberties with ornamentation to boot. But really, this build was directed more at refining jigs, working through unanticipated problems, and just generally working in 3 dimensions rather than producing a finished guitar.

That said, I’m pretty stoked about the finished product. It does include a couple deviations from the original that are not just cosmetic. I’m inclined to replicate them next time, but I’m curious to hear what the community thinks about such blasphemy.
Having never built a set-neck guitar before, I felt more comfortable with a deeper neck pocket than what Irwin created. Aside from allegiance to the original, I’m not sure why you wouldn’t go deeper if you could.

I also added a very slight break angle (a tad over 1 degree), even though it looks to me like Tiger has none. Given the uncertainty, I went with what I find more comfortable.
One of my favorite things about Wolf is how the neck bindings continue seamlessly around the peghead. Tiger doesn’t do that. The aesthetic difference, coupled with the finish problems with Tiger’s brass binding, led me to make an interior brass binding with a conventional outer binding . . . like Wolf.

Absolutely love the look of that headstock. Those angles are killer!

Love the body carving- superb! I still like the brass binding on the outside of the neck- I like to look at it when I'm playing, I like the "encasement" of the neck. Which break angle are you talking about?

Ho hum, just another stunner from ol' Bob....

Wow! Very impressive. That maple top really works with that guitar. So often with replica builds something just seems a little off to me, whether it's the shape or the carve or whatever. To borrow a phrase, this looks just exactly perfect!

Oh my....incredible work....

Impressed by the whole thing of course, but the inlays on teh neck...how did you learn to do that intricate inlay work?

i bet that thing would twist your spine if you played standing for more than a half hour. Looks ornate though - you got that part down. Maybe next time just back on the decorations, weight, and go full neck through. Labor of love - seems like so many builders making these guitars now - kinda a bummer really. Yours is very cool! Good job

Not really sure why that's a bummer. Means more options our there for those of us who love Jerry's guitars and would like one for ourselves. All I can say is that I own one of Bob's Wolfs and own or have owned guitars from many top luthiers building in the Irwin/Alembic style. Most can't hold a candle to Bob's skills.
