nah man, im positive, look it up on a scales page or go to chrisjurguensen.com or sumthin, mixo is definitely played from the fourth degree and lydian is definitely the fifth. Look at a song like dark star, basic jam is A mixo right? So u usually wanna play D major scales up n down the neck. Go to http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/guitar_scales.php if u doubt me.

actually, im not sure were even talkin bout the same thing, i m talkin bout what major scales u use when u play modes. like a b mixo is just the major scale played from the fourth degree of the B maj scale. The notes o f a b major scale r (B, C#, D#, E, F#, G#, A#). So if ur playing a major scale from the fourth degree, ud play an E maj scale. So b mixo is the same notes as e maj.

mixolydian is the fifth degree, not the fourth. If you were playin a D Major it would also be a A Mixolydian. D E F# G A 1 2 3 4 5. Your fourth would be lydian.

See thats why you have it mixed up. Your countin from the Mixolydian scale and we are countin from the Major scale

oh, ok, that makes sense, but i always count from wutevr mode im playin in to find out wut scale i need to play. On chrisjuergensen.com he refers to the mixolydian mode as being the major scale up a perfect fourth. That site has taught me most of the music theory i kno. It works both ways tho, the locrian is still the major scale up a flat second and so on n so forth, but yeah i guess doing it the way you guys were the major scale would be the mixolydian up a perfect fifth. Idk, i think the way i do it is easier, but either way u do it u can still figure out wut to play. Iv nevr realized that before tho.
