I really like Workingman's Dead, but i have a lot of memories with that record, so i'm pretty sure thats why it has a special place in my mind.

American Beauty.

The most complete and perfect sounding album they ever recorded. One of the classic albums of all time.

You don't have an X in the top right "block" of your posts? I deleted your dupli-posts this morning, but users should be able to delete their own.
No I didn't and don't have an X button - just a Quote button. Sometimes the X is there- more often it is not.

OK, now my last post does show an 'X' but my previous ones do not... I wonder if the 'X' will disappear on the last post after I post this one...?

Apparently the 'X' stays only on my most recent post.

MARS HOTEL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you ignore the question of balance of material you could make an argument that Ace was the best dead studio lp. I kept it off the list in my earlier post because of the minimal involvement of Garcia's voice but in terms of instrumentation Ace was pretty good representation of the dead.

this is a tough one for me. I have to say the most played recently are Europe '72, i really love the Brown eyed women and china cats from this album/s. I also love the copy of AOXOMOXOA (sp?) because the on i have has a bunch of extra tracks at the end of the CD... but the first two Cds i ever listened to of the dead (as far as studio recordings) were Working man's dead and American Beauty...

now as far as quality of recording i think the Mars hotel, blues for allah and terrapin albums are the coolest. I am not a big fan of Donna's lead vocals on some of the songs on thses albums but the production work on all 3 of these are really cool.

Hi All, this is my first post on the rukind forum, and have to say this website is amazing. I was introduced to the Dead with the Blues for Allah album, and I have to pick it for my favorite album.

Tough question, my favorite album changes all the time,
depending on my mood. When driving I really love listening to
American Beauty or Europe '72, but when at home I usually
prefer Live/Dead or Anthem of the Sun.

How bout JG's album Garcia. Technically not a Dead album but lots of great material played by the Dead.
