I can just see it now. Homeland security shows up at Mr. Lesh's house. "Sir, we've monitored internet chatter claiming you posses a special weapon called a Phil bomb that apparently only you are cable of detonating.

For a series of PhilBombs that really explode check out the Jack Straw from 7-2-88 Oxford, Maine. It is most spectacular. I was there and can still remember feeling them resonate through my whole body...the crowd goes nuts too. Very sick stuff.

it may be a little easier to add it into wikipedia:

Excellent job mttp. That has some major bombs and jerry rips it up as well. I think that's the version I used to post some jg tab in a js forum thread.

Yeah Phil drops some big bombs on that Jack Straw. Almost blew out my computer speakers hahaha. I love Jerrys tone in that jam. Is that using a distortion pedal of some sort? Mxr?

I haven't listened to that one in a while blob but jg would usually stay clean for the short, first lead and then either start with a little distortion or click it in somewhere in that second lead.

I guess I'm speaking about from late 70's on, though I'm not to sure.

As for what kind of distortion maybe one of the gear guys on the site could tell you.

Check out high-altitude bombardment of the Jack Straw 10/20/84 Syracuse.

Other great bombs:
Sugar Magnolia 6/28/83 Poplar Creek
Morning Dew 7/15/88 Greek
"Philo Stomp"(bass solo inside Dark Star) 10/18/72

Bob's aboriginie (spelling?) quote is classic, that's going to crack me up for a little while.

Phil is rocking that show though..... and I usually do not appreciate Phil's basslines as much.

I wouldn't add it myself without consensus for fear of being looked on unkindly by my fellow Wikipedians. I want to build consensus first.

Don't miss the "Jack Straw" from 4-6-87. Some tasty Phil Bombs and the boys really whip the end jam up to a boiing point. One of my favorite versions for sure.

Some of my favorite Phil Bombs were when the boys would come out of space into Other One and Phil would start it off with this incredible bomb that would blow my hair back! Can't think of an exact one (and not sure why he stopped doing it!) but I think there were some in '85 that ripped it open.
