some of the songs just mentioned sound kind of flat when i play them alone and acoustic. specifically...

China Cat Sunflower
Sitting Here in Limbo

Although of course I love China Cat and I like Limbo a lot when played by Jimmy Cliff or Garcia/Grisman.

How do you guys play those two? Do you fingerpick Sitting here in Limbo? Those songs don't sound very full or even fun to play when I just strum them. I'd love to know a more interesting way to play them alone.

Oooh, I also want to know how to play China Cat Sunflower
on acoustic. All I've got is an acoustic guitar (nylon string),
so I'm a bit limited by that.

Also, somebody said Dark Star? How on earth do you play that
on an acoustic. Please, let me know.
(PS: I read somewhere that the Dead have played Dark Star
acoustic at least once)

Here's one I haven't seen so far that I think is great alone & accoustic - Deal.

Pick a nice slow bluesy pace for it, rather than the quick tempo that the dead use to play.

And Days Between. It's a bitch of a song to play acoustic w/ all the barre chords, but that Bb rings sooooo good on an acoustic. Such a big and powerful chord and so in the right spot.
