I've been doing some research here and elsewhere on options for on board plus (not unity) gain guitar preamps but feel like I've got to be missing something because I've found fewer than expected. So I thought I'd pose the question in a new thread. All options welcome. They don't necessarily have to be intrinsically "Jerry-voiced" but do need to be variable (typically via a guitar knob). Thanks.

I'm sure there are more too. Just have to do a lot of pokin around and google searches. If I see any others, I'll post them.

kinda like a variable booster or Strat-o-blaster? I know you can go to GGG where they have a DIY blaster that you can mount into the guitar and wire to a pot on the guitar. It may work out better to ask Waldo if he can make you one, I am sure he can help you get it voiced properly too. I thought of something like that, and realized I would probably only use it in a fixed setting for boost , so a LPB1 can be put in the line to do some amp pushing.

Emg makes one with a pot. It also makes one with a trim pot and a toggle switch.

Thank you, guys, for the excellent suggestions. I was intrigued by the last one - simple and small - but upon rereading the copy on it this AM, see that it is a preset variable boost. I want a hands-on variable boost.

BTW, this is the guitar I have in mind for the preamp: my '98 USA Reverend Avenger (3 single coil model on the left):
