With the 4x10 you have speakers coupled to the floor as well as elevated. That does something to the EQ. I think if I was going for a 2x12 but also wanted some of that 4x10 magic Id go for an offset 2x12 cabinet, like a low power tweed twin.

I picked up a 66 a month ago and am nursing it back to health. Speakers are the next step.
