Has anyone used The Artec QTB4 onboard preamp? Is the output low impedance?

The Artec QTB4 is an on board clean boost. Some what similar to the Stratoblaster, which many of us use for earlier Jerry tone, but It is not the same as a preamp buffer.

Hi again HG, Thanks for the reply. I am considering the AT-QTB4 for a budget Alligator build. I just received a maple fretboard SX strat, that is stock with a tune-o-matic and stop bar tail.
I do like the idea of the OBEL and low impedance output, so I dont think I want to use the Alembic stratoblaster that replaces the jack plate.(even though I live only a few miles from the Alembic shop!) I'll use the SFG double jack plate. Can you or anyone recommend a preamp that accomplishes the variable clean boost + buffer for low imp. output?
Thanks,
Pat

Thanks to Mike Wald, aka Waldo, everything you want to know is here: http://www.wald-electronics.com/

Scroll all the way to the bottom and click on Custom Shop for the preamp/buffer.

OK good, I read the thread that thoroughly covers the Stratoblaster, the CB-1, the Waldo buffers.
I think I need both types of units to have an alligator with OBEL and the blaster to hot-drive the front of my Fender blackface.
The buffer before the out to the loop & volume, and the blaster after the volume and out to the Fender pre-amp.
I've been listening to a lot of Fillmore east 4/'71 on my commute and love that tone, but I also need to run some STABLE effects for the late 70's- 80's sounds.
so think this set up will cover a lot of those needs.
Thanks for the input, that will help a lot with my output!

PS is there a thread describing the preamp tap from the Fenders. I'd like to run out from the pre to a pair of Dynaco MKIII's. but what about the load for the Fender power amp stage. I think it could be damaged by not having a load when running the pre out to another power amp set up.
Thanks again,
Pat

Sorry about leaving the link out in my last post lol. It's there now. Anyway, yea sounds like you have familiarized yourself with the configurations then it's all personal preference as far as having the blaster and/or pre amp buffer.
There is a lot of info here about the pre amp tap etc. : http://www.dozin.com/gear/preamp/mod.html

Great thanks for the link, YIKES! I can follow the description and diagrams fairly clearly, but this looks like a job for a pro. Im sure the info on Dozin will be helpful to the tech who does the work.
Thanks again,
Pat

You might want to check this out. I think it may be just what you are seeking.

Hey Thanks, That is what I'm looking for! I like the compact functionality. The SWG gain is up to 6db, where the Artec is in 4 stages up to 20db. Is 15-20 db that just way too much for this "blaster" type application?
