Hello all,
I'm very much digging the sound Jerry gets on the early-to-mid 70s Greatest Story Ever Told's. It's a really nice overdriven wah sound. From reading prior posts, It seems like he was using a colorsound wah. Do we have a sense of how he used it or are there any videos of him using it? Like was he whanging on the pedal or would he just leave it open to color the tone?
Thanks!
Sam

Yes it is a colorsound wah. Note that it is NOT the inductorless version. He also used a Morley Power Wah fuzz (parallel blended with clean) during wall of sound era. I don't know if there are any good footage but I dont think it is very difficult to pick out how he used the wah when listening, Like you said he did not use it heavily for whacka-whacka sounds, more so like a tone knob but he did use it as an effect also at times
