This show has always had one of my favorite Jerry clean/overdriven tones.

Do you think Jerry was using the Les Paul Deluxe or the TV Yellow Double cutaway?

The history of Jerry's guitars is inaccurate when it states Wolf was made by Doug Irwin after he left Alembic. I believe Wolf was made while Irwin was still at Alembic. My basis for this belief is:

1. Earliest pics of Wolf clearly show it sported an Alembic logo;

2. Doug Irwin told me he built Wolf while still at Alembic.

Thanks for posting this. The link lead to another story about Jerry sitting in with NRPS during the second set at the Keystone Berkeley in February of 1974. I really appreciated reading that story as I was in the audience at the Keystone that night. It was the one time I got to meet Jerry and shake his hand.

Some cool pics of Jerry Id never seen before while going through that. Like Jerry playing a Byrdland with Merl Saunders. Would love to hear that!

If I ever build another guitar (like I need another guitar....) it will be a double cut Junior like that one.

by 8-6-71 for me
My all time favorite show. I have tabbed most of the first set note for note. Minor obsession.

Def. the '59 LP Special DC tv yellow on 8/6/71. I had one of these as well as a 71 LP Deluxe sunburst; the guitar from 8/14 and 8/15. I had the chance to A/B thru a 70 Twin w JBL speakers.

The picture above is supposed to be from 8/7/71 (although I have a series of these same photos and I wonder if it is not mislabeled and actually from Hollywood 8/5/71). In one picture you can see the two goofy girls on stage at the mic, which would match the audio of the introduction for 8/5/71...
