Man, I must’ve listened to Live at Keystone 1000 times, but just the other day I was cruising down the road in my pickup, sun shining, warm spring air streaming through the open windows, blasting Positively 4th Street on the stereo, paying closer mind than usual to Jerry’s solos, and all of a sudden there were two Jerries! It freaked me out, but I was driving so initially chalked it up to “oh it must’ve been Merl doing something with his keys,” but when I got a chance later, I listened again. Definitely not Merl. Post production work? That would be weird. So I looked it up and found out it’s David Grisman on mandolin. I’m sure this comes as no surprise to most of you, and it made a lot of sense when I listen back, but I can’t believe it took me so long to notice.

Anyway, kind of fun to realize there’s plenty left to discover, even in places I’ve been 1000 times.
