Not sure if it can be done or if anyone cares to but if it could be done you guys would be the ones to do it.

So here's the deal; 3/22/90 Copps Coliseum I would to get the tab for the intro which runs from 00:00-02:54 (up to Phil's Bomb)

I would be forever Grateful.

Thanks

Hi, SGP...So, you're "not sure this can be done"? ...as a matter of fact, YOU can do it! :-)
If you haven't already, get yourself a program like audacity (which is free, BTW), and from there you can 'grab' streams, drop them in your looper, and chop your 3 minutes of audio to yer heart's content; learn one note at a time, if you want, or break into phrases, as you learn the licks...I'm really not tryin to bust yer balls too bad, but tabbing out three minutes of anything is a lot to ask, IMHO...I really am tryin to help here, duder, and I hope this post did, even just a little... :-)

Playing along with it the soloing is in E Dorian.

Go to the RUKind Tab maker: http://www.guitartabcreator.com/
About half way down on the left, go to the "Scale Helper"
Select "E" for the Key.
Select "Dorian" for the Scale.
Press the "Show" button.
Here is a tutorial link to the Scale Helper:
http://blog.guitartabcreator.com/2010/0 ... elper.html

For starters, I would start with my pinky on the high E string at the 12th fret, and descend in a Jerry-esque manner from there.
Play along with the recording while working-out with the Scale Chart. Work up and down the neck.

Is that the "tone knob all the way to the bass end" dirty tone in there sometimes?... or Midi Basoon?

well I am trying both suggestions, but the "audacity" program is a bit technical for me and not sure how to loop the selection of slow the rate down.

I appreciate the helpful hint and always open to hear of any other tips you have to offer.

Thanks

Hi SGP, Sorry that audacity is a hassle for you, I didn't mean to give you a bum steer. There's similar programs available, I used that one as an example...ANYWAY, you really can't go wrong listening to Pete B.'s excellent suggestions:

Audacity's really easy once you get a feel for it. Just import the file, highlight the section you are interested in, and hit shift-play and it'll repeat that section. You can also put flags in places you want to use as placemarkers, etc.

Yep you got me! That's what Jerry said he would rather do than write songs.

Woops...
I had to go back and edit my first post.
I put E Mixo as the soloing Scale but playing along with it now I see it's like all E Dorian.

I just opened two Guitar Tab Maker screens and put the E Dorian Scale on one, and E Mixo on the other, with the screens reduced/resized so I could see them both at once.
Interestingly, E Dorian has an E to Eb7(D) in the same place as the E Mixo scale, high E string fret 12, to high E string fret 10.

Here's an explaination of the CAGED system that was easy for me to grasp:
http://www.cyberfret.com/scales/major-caged/index.php

For soloing in The Other One I would think of the chord/scale positions/relationships as EDCAG to get from open position to the 12th fret.

fwiw, that Guitar Tab Maker is also super easy to use (you quickly get used to it) for capturing Jerry solo tid-bits and/or whatever chords/scales you might want to print out or post.

OK, the whole tabbing it myself thing is just not working. just not well versed in the whole computer thing i guess, so...the challenge is still open...thanks :?

Dude... there's nothing to tab for the first 2:54. It's just fucking around the theme in E. I prefer to use Aeolian (throw in the occasional C# passing note - I think E Aeolian is E F# G A B C D, but I'm sure one of our fine folk will correct me if I'm wrong; I'm a total play by feel guy with little to no theory or book learnin'). Most importantly, let your fingers wander and you'll be much better off coming up with a variation of your own rather than trying to cop the Copps, as it were.
- on edit -
I'm a moron; was looking at the wrong chart. I play straight Mix. See... this is what happens when you're a feel player and look to online charts to try to explain what you're doing! :?

Do your own thing, dude! You can play it in straight E pentatonic minor blues if'n ya want... and it won't sound altogether shitty as long as you are in synch with the time sig and hit the right notes: B-D-E-E, B-D-E-E, B-D-E-E, B-D-E-D for the verse, B-D-E-E, B-D-E-E, B-D-E/E-D-C-A..G, E-D-C-A..G for the chorus (see, I don't do tab either, but I hope it makes sense!)
