Part after "Clap your hands"

Okay, so this song is kinda giving me a headache at this point. The tab seems right as far as the chords go but the part right after "Come on clap your hands" it just says D and E. Well, it seems that they are doing some sort of climb there and not staying solely on those two chords. Can anyone offer a tab or explanation to help me better play that section?

Another part that I didn't see represented was just after "Listen here it comes again" leading into the "Band out on the highway" part. Another climb but I'm not hearing it right. I feel like the base should be E-F#-G-G# into the A6 section.

Also, on the parts where Jerry just goes to town, what scales are you using? Specifically after "Everybody's Dancing"

Thanks for the help! I just can't get my ear on these parts. The harmony is very dense. I really don't want to map out each individual part and compare them. Seems like a lot of work for something that will turn out pretty simple.
