Anyone do this one ?
Me and the peps are bashing it about.
We have a disagreement over how the " Going down the line" part goes. Especially the the last " going down the line " part.
F ///C///G///C/// then F///C///Am// ... so is the next part the quick C/A/D/G/C/F/C ?
We all have slightly different arrangements. The version I play to is the STEAL YOUR FACE version
The local tab sites arent settling the matter.
What do you guys do with your bands ?

Also since you guys are digesting this song the solo passing chords on the verses hold longer and don't switch back as quickly as they do in the verses.

(because I played it wrong for let's just call it 7 years most of which was on stage)
(however at least I wasn't alone as most of my bandmates were doing it wrong too!)

I thought i had it all sussed out good.
But i was undone when I passed some sheet music around ....
Not realizing at all that it was a bit different than my version ...
Other guitar guy had HIS version too ...

Will have to try that out ....

No A minor anywhere in Beat it on down the line. Those are all A7's, dominant chords with a distinct tritone in there. Classic swing and jazz turnaround stuff.

TJ - at the end of the chorus C// rest you can also kick in a quick passing Csus4 or F if you are really quick!

It should confuse you . DS is wrong. Seems like they are counting the rhythm and not the beats.

Also that Am is not correct. IMO a I & V is all that 's needed there. Maybe a VII not a iii.

And the chorus ended does not equal the verse ending. FACT.

Deadstein is where I get chord charts for peps ....they print up nice ( what happened to the Garcia stuff though ?... its gone )

Unfortunately I didnt see the Am in there ....
I feel like i got it decent from STEAL YOU MONEY album ....

I don't get when the | C A D G | is strummed, or the timing for it.

The turnaround chords for Garcia are all 7ths C7,A7,D7,G7....

Here's a tasty nugget of how his use of arpeggios outlines the 7ths nicely. This would be ala 73'-ish

Yup, no minor chords in this song... that Am should be an A7, and... whoa yeah kinda fubar.

Try this for that last line of the chorus:

*= 1/4 rest, where he goes "I wan'chew to ROCK ON!" before the solo on 4/29/71 (smo ....kin' )
