Hello y'all. I've been away from this site for several years, but have a sudden need to learn some Dead tunes. So, I thought I'd reintroduce myself.
About four years ago, I started to learn guitar. I got a lot of information from this site and from jdarks' youtube videos. Then I started taking lessons. I went the classical route, with sheet music and a nylon string guitar. It worked out well. And I've actually been playing my guitar in an orchestra, like with a conductor.
After a few years of classical, I realized the improve/jamming skills did not exactly flow naturally from the classical training. So, for the past few months I've put away the sheet music and been trying to play by ear. There are a lot of people around here playing bluegrass, so I've been joining in the jams. It's finally starting to click.
Now I'm ready to try the Dead tunes again. So, I'm back. Looks like the forum is still very active. Glad to see that.
