Be interesting to see how your wiring goes ... my new Scott Walker guitar has a buffer, individual tones and volumes for each pickup, and a master volume. Definite volume drop compared to a more standard wiring job.
I'm not sure if that's a characteristic of the Gretsch guitars with that setup to begin with. My Walker has an onboard FET blaster circuit, so I'm able to bring the level up to be comparable with my other guitars, at the expense of some added hiss. Scott has been talking with a bunch of people to try to get this sussed out, including Brad and Steve Kimock, because he runs across the same thing with his stereo guitars.
