Anyone know where to get soundboard quality recordings of JGB shows? Im diggin Keen College 1980 and i'm hankerin for some more! I have tons and tons of GD soundboards i'd love to exchange for some leads on where to get sbd JGB shows. thanks guys

Probably the Bit Torrent route is the best. Videos too (later 80s and early 90s)!

A really good show is 3/7/1980 and 3/8/1980. Also 3/7/1982 and you can't leave out 6/16/1982.

Most of the finest JGB recordings prior to mid-80's or so are actually the AUDs made by luminaries such as Jerry Moore, Steve Rolfe, Barry Glassberg, Jim Wise, etc.

I picked up JGB release "Tore up over you" from '76. It is a great recording with lots of JG/TB tone right up front.

6/16/82 is frickin' epic.......there are 2 separate killer audience sources out there and they are both better than soundboards. The Love in the Afternoon is just Jerry at his finest. Not only the leads but his backup reggaefied chops behind the organ solo are sublime. Gotta love Billy K at the kit as well.
This show and the next night in New Haven were my 2nd and 3rd JGB shows. The only issue with these 2 shows is that they were shorter than normal because Bobby and Midnites were on the bill as well.

love me some Moonlight Mile! You could tell Jerry really was into that song. Some of the versions are a little hit or miss vocally, 3/6/76 is the best of the bunch.

Another absolutely killer Jerry aud I have been wearing out lately is 6/3/75. The sound is incredible. There is an instrumental version of "Day by Day" (yeah you heard right, Day by Day from Godspell!) that is 16 minutes long and dripping in jazz/funk. The May /June bay area auds from '75 are unbelievable because Menke and/or Falenga (sp) had their mics taped on the lip of the stage for a few of the shows!

A few of us on here have said it a million times but it bears repeating:

DO NOT LIMIT YOURSELVES TO SOUNDBOARDS! (especially for Jerry band). If you limit yourself to boards you will miss some of the best music Jerry ever made.

-- Question - "Was Bob [Menke] friendly enough with [Steve] Parish to be allowed stage lip mic mounting?"
-- Answer - "We had no permission. We snuck the equipment in and were near the front of the line so we could get the spot. In early 1976 at Sophie's (before the veunue became Keystone Palo Alto) we tried the same thing and 2 things happened. Ramroad cut our mic cable during the first set and Parish threatened to break the 152 over our heads if he saw us trying to tape the 2nd set. Hope that answers your question."

OK, I've recently turned on to James Booker, and, lo and behold, found he played with JGB on 1/7/76, 1/9/76, and 1/10/76. If anyone has access to HARD COPIES of these shows, I would love to do an old fashioned B&P or otherwise equitable trade. I need the hard copies, not links or directions to finding them on the computer. Thanks to everyone in advance.

From the first couple of notes i fell in love with Booker's playing; his timing, phrasing, etc. Highly recommend it.
