I use Waterlox Original which is a tung oil varnish. Each successive coat burns into the last so no sanding between coats if you don't need to. I generally use 4 coats followed by 2 of Waterlox Hi Gloss. While it takes a while to dry between coats it is EXTREMELY durable. Enough for a basketball court. After it's cured a month or so you can rub it out nicely. It's not cheap but it's a foolproof finish that can be repaired as easily as wiping on another coat which will burn into the last. Plus no spray equipment!

The only work I did was build houses so I could pay for that baby. That is the creation of Andrew Olson. I visited his shop before my guitar got started. It was going to be all cocobolo but when I saw that piece of walnut it blew my mind and the grain pattern fit so well on the back. It has taken such a long time, but she is almost ready![img]http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x43 ... -2.jpg/img]

Still really nice work and please let us see the final product. It's going to be strumming stunning.

What kind of tone are you going for and what was your inspiration for this particular guitar?

Peace,

Jamrs

james I have a couple Jerry style guitars that I use when playing Dead covers.
I have recently been playing in a funk band that is getting great reception around here and we have some good energy going. We have about ten originals and the bands we cover are The Meters, Isley Brothers, Sam and Dave, Bill Withers, The Bamboos,James Brown, etc. Oh yeah and we play Shakedown cause that fits well in our set list and sure enough that is when the dance floor is full.
So this guitar is for that vibe and who knows what else, I always wanted a hollow body. Shipping next week woohoo!
Sorry that this forum subject has taking a detour.
Cheers
