Hey guys,
I've had something strange happen.
I had to take everything off my Tiger to get it painted again. (Added some brass)
Put everything back on, but now the guitar only plays with the OBEL switched on.
No sound when I switch it off.
Also, there is only sound when the mono cable is plugged in to the guitar.

Do I have something going on with my stereo input jack?
Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I'm not totally sure what you're saying. Are you saying you only get sound using a mono (TS) cable plugged into the OBEL out put on the guitar into the junction box for the effects with the OBEL switched on?

Yes, I think so.
The OBEL is switched on, on both the guitar and junction box. That's when I have sound.
I get no sound when I switch the OBEL off on the guitar, but the box is on.

Before, I would have the box switched on, and I could switch the OBEL on the guitar on/off to control when I want the effects.

Clear?
Thanks!

Yea, I'm very familiar with the OBEL etc.

What happens when you have the two guitar cables connected to guitar and box the way they are suppose to be?

Maybe the guitar output jacks got switched around and you put the OBEL one where the clean one was and visa versa?

Did you do the work?

All cables are in their correct jacks. Mono is in mono, stereo is in stereo. Send cable is in front of effects. Return cable is in end of effects. Amp cable is in amp.
Yep, I did the work.

If the TS and TRS cables are hooked up correctly and you're having a problem of this sort, I think it's time to go back into the guitar as see what is going on.
Sounds like something didn't go back together the same as it was before you took it apart or a wire got grounded or became unsoldered.

Did you by chance replace the guitars obel switch in the refinish?

Here's a look into the guitar....

I'm pretty sure I put everything back the way it was.

I asked about the possible new switch thinking the jumper might not be in place after you put it all back together. this would create the exact scenario you described. But looking at the pictures, and seeing the jumper in place, I wonder if that jumper is actually touching the cavity wall which has shielded paint that is grounded. If it is, it will be grounding that jumper and any signal to it when the switch is in the normal output to amp position. In the Obel position it will work fine.

Waldo, you be getting somewhere. Can you explain which is the jumper, and what I might need to do to correct this?
Much appreciated.

I did notice that some of the shielding paint got ripped off by the masking tape when the painter was finished spraying it and removed the tape.
Do you suppose that is causing this electrical hick-up?

Just a guess, or something to check. The red boxed area has a jumper soldered from one lug to it's parallel lug. If the jumper wire is protruding out the back of the lug and touching the wall that is shielded and grounded, it will create the situation you are experiencing.

It's definitely not touching the cavity wall.

OK.

I would unscrew and pull the Obel switch out of its hole and try the switch. If it still does not work put the switch in the non working effects bypassed position and with a small piece of wire short out the yellow buffer output wire lug to its parallel lug tied to the volume pot. This should produce sound, if it does then you have a switch problem. If it does not have sound then you have another issue.

Tried with the switch out of it's hole. Still no sound.
Here's a video to demonstrate what is going on:

Me flipping the switch on and off while the guitar is making sound.
When you hear sound, that's when the switch (OBEL) is on. And vice versa.
