Yes, I mentioned the two View from the Vault releases from the Bay Area, but didn't mention "So Far" (not a concert recording, right? Recorded live in Marin but in an empty theater). They also released NYE '87 right? "Ticket to New Years" or something like that? There is a clear bias towards video from the Bay Area, probably mainly because of logistics. Still only two audio only shows.

12/31/1984 is one of my favorite shows of all. The overall energy is great and I am partial to the set list. For me anything from Shoreline I enjoy.

You are right, someone should have mentioned 12/31/81. Before my time, but certainly a classic.

I looked at another official release, "Postcards From the Hanging" compiled by Bay Area resident David Gans. Of the 12 tracks (including the two bonus tracks), four were from the bay area:

DrBeechwood. Great profile name! Chicago 5-13-77 is one of my all time favorite tapes from back in the day. There was some serious magic that night. That Music Never Stopped and Ramble on Rose are out of control. Well I'm way off topic, but had to comment. Nice work. Pardon the interruption and carry on.

That was my first show, and yeah, it WAS hot. That's gotta make this list. Four sets, Kesey's trapeze and "gong bong" rap at midnight, outstanding musicianship, and an excellent Dark Star > Bertha > Good Loving to close it all out. A life changing night for me.

My other favorite Bay Area Brent-era shows that I was fortunate enough to attend:

5-23-82, Greek Theater -- smoking show
7-15-88, Greek Theater -- very solid show
12-28-88, Oakland Coliseum -- massive Bird Song followed by an exultant Jack Straw. This whole run was pretty fun and well played.
8-4-89 Cal Expo, if we're including that as Bay Area (that whole run was solid, but 8/4 was a hell of a lot of fun and very well played, which a pretty unusual second set)
8-19-89, Greek Theater -- IMO, the best Other One of the modern era, period. It builds and builds and BUILDS to a massive crescendo, and until the wave breaks and the tension resolves with a single, ringing, transcendent chord.
2-26-90, Oakland Coliseum -- maybe a tad laid back, but the Scarlet > Fire that opened the 2nd set was 31 minutes long, and was followed by a very well played Playin' > Terrapin. Quantity doesn't always equal quality, but this was like settling in near a warm fire on a cold night, with a nice book and a cup of cocoa. Grateful Dead comfort food.
