Battery only? They don't mention true bypass- can you tell from the photo?

Brad, just in case you aren't familiar with the Whirlwind Yellow Box, after a bunch of research, I found it to be identical to the original.

True bypass too as the mxr above is not. Easy to change as you know, but hey!

I'd really like to know which one of these two others (with experience with both) think is better/closer. I have had both and kept the Whirlwind....sounds to me like the originals.

Whirlwind: LED, 9V jack, made in the USA by former MXR guys
MXR: painted the correct color in a Chinese factory

I have an original but would certainly go with the Whirlwind based on the above.

Ahhhh- good point. The circuit board doesn't say "hand built by AMERICAN guitar players" :-)

Noticed those. Makes me curious, but I already have a Dist+, and really it doesn't get used much, the OCD kicked it off my board. While we're on the topic of script vs reissues, can anyone tell me how close a BYOC+ is to script specs? I know it's got the right opamp and diodes, but it seems like it has a few extra parts that weren't included in the original.

I've heard good things about the "II"s... but I only ever seem to run across the "III"s.
I always think of the Distortion II as a whole different thing - the resonance control adds sort of a big low end rumble. I'm really not sure how close it can get to the + sound. Something to try...
