If you are looking for a Jerry tone, start by investigating his main effects that really define him:
Phase 90 (or was it the 100)
Then check if the unit has these.
Then check what the unit modelled to get them.
I've got a POD XT Live and they show pics of which models they used when creating their stuff.
Sometime back I checked into the G Major and these was something I didn't like about it. That's it, the foot controller. Plus it lacks an Mutron III type effect and I didn't see an octave divider. Finally the routing of effects was too restrictive for the price, IMO.
Another option is the BOSS GT8 where that has better routing options and the octave divider it doesn't have a Mutron III but does have a tasty AutoWah, IIRC.
The XT Live doesn't have an octave divider persay so I'd steer clear of that if I were you.
For the price of a system you could get the core required pedals less the Mutron III but you could get the EH model that is similar - sorry I can't remember which model that was...
