Greetings & Good Evening,

Now that I have your attention...I wish to point out to all the "Would be" Jerry rack builders, that this is not for the faint of heart ...or wallet.

Step 1~ Take a step back. Take another step back. Assume everything you're about to buy is made of spun gold.

a) You'll need Image
b) And...Image
c)And...Image
d)And...Image

Step 2 -
You'll think about one of these ....Image
But instead you'll end up with two of these ...Image
(Because 2 is more numerous than one.)

Step 3 -
Finally you'll need a bunch of these ...Image

Step 4 - Add $500 for cables and small doodads. Dual-Lock

Step 5 - Then put it together. Take it apart. (Use tons of Goo-Gone ((see photo next to MC2100) to un-F%$# sticky mess.). Put it together. Take it apart. (Use tons of Goo-Gone ((see photo next to MC2100) to un-F%$# sticky mess.). Repeat as often as needed.

YOU WIN! IT WORKS! (But you're still desirous of building the actual Jerry-style Twin.

Good Luck! Hope you all have understanding spouses. :-)

Peace
M
p.s. - Might be better to buy a cheap guitar, and play enough to go on tour & pay Healy to build it for you.

Thanks for looking!
I hope it didn't come off as bragging...more of self-depricating humor over a common obcession.

The rig is great. The sound is really Un-Frickin'-Believable. Even though it pushes 1000 hp, with the Earth Drive I can dial in a beautiful tone at practice volume. Very versatile. Couldn't be happier. It's just a constant work in progress. I just moved all the pedal power to beneath the shelf to clean up a bit of noise that showed up in the last rebuild. It really is just faint, but with a double-shielded strat, and fancy cables I'm used to it being dead quiet.

Also, I've moved the rack components repeatedly...just because of the enormous wall-wart for the GCX.

Not easy. Not cheap. But really fun! And ...as tone goes it does Jerry all day. I also find that switching the humbuckers on brings on tonal options that are much more traditional...without futzing with the effects.

Peace

Sound Clips -
My plan is to find that Sennheiser 421U at a decent price first. I have a Mesa Boogie Transatlantic which (to my ear) absolutely NAILS the '76-'77 Garcia Rig. Treble - 100%. Base 0-1. And it's extremely portable.

Anybody know of a digital direct to iMac mic that can take JBL dynamics? Or similiar setup that doesnt' require a $1000.00 mic preamp?

That rig above, even with the Mc250 is a two-dude haul. The slightly wonky 2x cab with an E120 & a K120 in 1" Baltic Birch is a two-dude haul. The Mesa, 1x, small pedalboard & guitar is almost 1 trip from the car. Plenty loud enough for club gigs, and bars.

And...I'd have to screw my courage up to post clips to this board. Maybe I'll ask Pete B. to do the A/B. Pete's darn close to DSO good...and he'll likey rake me for saying so.

Be Well. M

you forgot the step of telling your wife/girlfriend/parent/landlord/the people next door/the people upstairs (or down) that this is something that they wouldnt understand and apologize for the money/noise/random curse words youll be yelling while putting it together/the amount of "testing" that needs to be done/playing sugaree until its just exactly perfect (and/or every other song that you know for sure when you have that "jerry" sound)... I find this to be an important step in the process... for me anyway
