I'm thinking about popping a set of EMG SA's into an old Strat I have collecting dust.

Would likely up it to 18v as that's what I've heard Bobby's was.

Does anyone know anything about these pickups>? What about Bobby's EMGs in his Blackknife guitars?

strummin,
yes, used them...yes, very decent for bobby, and yes, i think most if not all the modulus had them. I had them in My casio, but sold them for some other gear and replaced them with 2 Bill Lawrence Ultrasonics and a Bartolini in the bridge.

One thing that I wound vital to the Bobby sound with EMG's was the addition of the "SPC" control. It is like an EQ filter.

Also, I know that he did not always use the Same EMG model. For example his famous Pink Modulus he actually used EMG selects which is a passive pickup.

Talk to Dozin about EMG's I believe he is very familiar with what they are all about.

Thanks! I've always wondered about the SPC. Seems odd to do such a midrange boost.

Does it sound more musical than it looks on paper?

i've used EMG's / Bartalini's most of my adolescent life

What Jeff said SPC is a must. Make sure you wire the cap correctly too. It's different than your standard cap placement.

In the diagram I have a EMG 85 it's really a splittable 89

Would you use them now?

Thanks for the scoop

It's been a long time since I've played one of my blackknifes. I'm still on the fence if I want them in my custom that I'm having built right now.
