It seems that if you are a bit louder than they like they turn me out the house all together. Or they have issues with monitor volumes. 4 12s in a vertical stack will act as my own monitor as well if i stand in the right spot. Ill probly have the 2 Ks on top and the Es on bottom. Itll spread the sound better too , even in a medium size venue.
I'd re-think that if I were you. If you have an amp on stage their job is "sound reinforcement". If you are so loud on stage that you don't need to be put thru the mains, they will drop your fader and adjust the rest of the bands' volume around you. This results in a disservice to the folks who come and see your show as they will only hear you directly in front of the stage not on the sides. But there is nothing that a soundman can do with a guitarist who insists on bringing a 4x12 with 300W of power and using it all.
As I went from 100 watts > 80 watts > 40 watts > 20 watts I had folks tell me how much more clearly they heard me time and time again as I was going thru the mains more.
I'm not trying to tell you what to do but to give you insight from behind the soundboard.
