My inside baseball story on this... he started using the Smith as a personal slap in the face to G. Gould. Modulus was really taking off and getting a lot of orders, and the neck throughs that we were waiting for got pushed down on the priority list. This was his way of spanking modulus..

Yes. He was trying something different, obviously. I guess you know better though. I just got my information from a very unreliable source. This was told to me by Phil backstage in Albany the night he used he used the smith.

This totally sounds like something Phil would do. Patience doesn't seem to be one of his more abundant qualities. (not that I've met him, just judging by the stories I've read)

In my experience Phil was incredibly gracious and patient. I got to speak with him for @ 20 minutes before they went on. He very well could have shook my hand and said gotta go. And that would have been in and of itself more than enough.

Yes I think he wanted to try something different. But I think it was more a Phil spanking Geoff thing more than anything.

All I can say about that is parish gave consistently bad and conflicting information. Given who was giving the info to it is possible he was trying to just make him go away. But.... None the less I would be skeptical of any info from him.

That's an interesting take on Parrish. I've met exactly nobody in the GD family except Vince ( ) so I'm only piecing it together from afar, but I really liked Parrish's book. He seemed genuine and intelligent to me. But like I said, I've met nobody firsthand. Rock Scully's book is the one most often accused of being factually incorrect.
