Area 58's. Got em in my trusted red stratocaster. Not sure wether I love em or hate em. When pushed correctly they have a real nice sparkle. They sound vintage almost identical to a set of aged Tokai's I have in another stratocaster, but they are noiseless and sometimes I feel like they fall just a hair flat. They shine when they are pushed a bit and fatten up nicely - I can see why Clapton used noiseless pups for his boost. The in-between quack positions are really glassy, a bit to much for my liking. I'd like to try a set of D Allens.

It would be cool to see Jeff Mattson play an Alligator type Strat with regular old single coils in it.

Yeah I got to see him in Donna Jean's band pre-DSO at a bar. I didn't know who he was at the time but he lit the place on fire, as he does. Would like to see him do that again with the JBLs and at the volumes that DSO plays at. Will be seeing them Monday at the Electric Factory in Philly!!!!

isn't it possible that since the Strat Jerry got from Graham Nash was a 56 strat that the Europe 72 tone is no other than an Ash strat with 1956 strat pickups (plus, of course, twin reverbs, JBL's and Statoblaster)? That is, just stock 1956 pickups.
