Hey there just posting here to get to know everyone and to introduce myself! I am a young player just north of Fort Wayne in Indiana, in a small band that quite frankly needs alot of practice just like all of us! I have received quite a bit of information from my friend Mike Wald, after all he has put a decade of work into this forum, all out of generosity, Shout out to Brad from Sarno's also! Besides that I would like to list my gear and what I am working with and see if anyone has any suggestions

To start my ax is a PRS CE24 with 85/15's, my rig consists of a 1973 Twin reverb (currently being worked on by Wald), with 2 JBL e120's in a SSR 2x12 cab. I am currently using lava cable for my cables (wondering if anyone has any other suggestions) my pedal list goes from Right to left!

Boss OC3
Qtron
Dunlop Wah
Distortion + (P.S. been having trouble with getting the desirable tone, usually run my output at 4 and my distortion at 11)
Phase 90 (usually do not use in my chain)
MXR carbon copy
Ernie Ball volume pedal (I just run my guitar at 10 and adjust the volume from my volume pedal accordingly) Wont need that once I install the WALD buffer and OBEL!

Hi there! Sounds like you have it covered pretty good. Adding a middle pickup to the equation will get you closer to Jerry tone. A hippie sandwich style guitar with maple/ebony neck will inch you ever so much closer as well. OC3 is good, OC2 is better IMO.

I like the Distortion + for getting authentic 70s and early 80s tones but they are pretty noisy and have some pretty nasty high end frequencies. I like something a little smoother and have been using a Strymon Riverside for higher gain tones. Not cheap but very flexible and sounds great.

Thanks for the response Brandon! I have family down in louisville and Lexington also, but ya I was just taking a look at the Strymon after you mentioned it and can see how you say it is very flexible.

Looks like you have it covered pretty well. I have a love-hate relationship with the dist+, in that I don't really like the way it sounds a lot of the time, but simply having it on my board somehow makes the rest of my pedals sound better. Maybe the buffer in it?

You might consider changing the OC-3 for a BYOC divided octave kit, which is pretty much indistinguishable sounding from the mu-tron octave jerry used in the late '70s-early '80s. If you're aiming for late '80s or early '90s you might want to consider adding a boss GE7 equalizer after the OD. If you're looking to get the nasty growl on hell in the bucket that's a boss HM-2, believe it or not.

Exactly must be right about the buffer, and I have looked into the BYOC crazy deal!! GE equalizer is on my list, and ya I just looked at some vidoes on the the HM-2 and I can see exactly what you are saying!

Thanks for the response by the way!

Sounds good. If you are ever in Lexington on a weekend, we play GD music almost every Sunday night at a club called Cosmic Charlies. Some really good players too. Come on down

I live in Louisville and have an office in Indy. Will have to get out to see both of you.

Btw that tag of "let me make my own mistakes" is a Pigpen quote before he launched into Katie Mae solo acoustic.

no way I always thought that was bear saying that, but that makes sense now!

I actually have a buddy down in Louisville, and his dad plays in a fairly known dead band down in Lexington. Ill have to get the name and see if you recognize them
