Noisy OBEL and loss of tone

Howdy guys. I had my OBEL wired up per the diagram on this site. It works, but I notice a good bit of noise when the loop is active along with a fair bit of "clarity" loss. Is this normal? Any advice?

Do you have an onboard buffer? How many of the pedals have a buffer?

I do. I've the one from CAE, JG-1 I think. All my pedals are running through a voodoo labs gcx pedal switcher that's supposed to be buffered.

Everything sounds good if you run the same pedal chain with the same cables straight out from the guitar to the amp? More details- what guitar, before/after cavity photos?

Did you try putting in a new battery?

The loss of clarity could be lack of a buffer before the send of OBEL jack. Or battery per above. Maybe its in the wrong position in the circuit...that could cause noise I imagine? I find mine almost too bright with a buffer lol.
