Hey guys,
Just got a Mu III off ebay for cheap, but I'm not sure if it's working properly. Can't seem to get any effects out of it. Seller said it worked fine.
Anyway, I'm curious about sending it off to Richard Lingenberg for the full treatment. Does anyone here have a ball park range for his prices?

The OBEL is still not working. The guitar tech here in Austin spent a few hours poking and prodding at the connections, switches, and wires. He could not figure it out.
So, I'll be arranging a drop off with Leo in Dallas in the near future.

Most reports from people that send pedals to Richard L are that they're real happy and for a tune up, cap refurbish, service it runs around $200.

Essentially, I bought a non-working Mu off ebay. The guys claims it was working when he had it. He's offered to refund me $100, which is crap, since it will cost $200 to repair, etc.
Decided to get a full refund and send the Mu back to him.

That is a bummer. I got lucky and paid 350 for mine off ebay and it sounds great..but it is old as dirt and could really use a tune up im sure

Richard's pricing is very reasonable. I had him do a once over on a mu-tron I bought last July that wasn't working right. He charged me $2 for 3 caps; 2 resistors and $39 for labor. I also bought his power supply for $49. It works perfect now. Turn around time was super fast also.

I've had him do two of my III's (calibration + true bypass). I think they were $150-200 all in with shipping.

Now that most of us are controlling the MuIII with an effects-loop, I'm not sure of the need for the addition of the True-Bypass mod (if you leave it ON all the time), and/or, the bypass-of-the-Gain-circuit mod.
Not sure but I think Richard originally offered those mods for old school usage where you run cords directly from guitar to MuIII to amp with no effects loop, so that the unit itself would not cause a signal Gain variation, and/or turning off the effect would not cause a non-True-Bypass tonal coloration.

Highly recommended.

I bought a MuIII from ebay that is cosmetically pristine except for one small chip in the paint, and, the Envelope Filter didn't work at all.
Sent it to Richard.
An Op-Amp replacement and general rehab service brought the unit back to life.
Richard also put the on/off LED (bright-blue) right where that chip in the paint was, making it disappear.
