Ahhh....I recognize that Wolf. Congrats on the acquisition. The next one to come out of AO's shop will be mine; I'm counting the days.

You'll be very very happy with Andrews work. His quality is impecable.

Just finished up a summer project - An 80's Jerry style rig.

A couple of big nods before I get to pics!

Hard Truckers (Glenn) and Louis Electric (Louis) for the Captain Trips amp (and my wife who gave it to me for my 40th!) - I am loving this amp like crazy!!
Tracy from SSP - you are a truly kind soul brother! My 80's rack isn't as nice or accurate as yours but you were kind enough to encourage me to give it a shot!

I just completed it today (last coat of poly, rail install, rack, stack and wire everything)....and just finished a couple hours of playing - super good day! I'll be building something to put the rack on so it isn't sitting on the speaker.

Closer look at the rack:

Hey Jackstraw,

I was checkin' out one of your you tube vids a while back. FOTM. Nice work!

You must have one hell of a honey for a wife. What a rig. Nothing but quality! :hail:

I was drooling over that Louis Electric amp about a year ago - is that the Captain Trips amp? The owner shot me a link of what I recall as Vic playing one at a Dead equipment convention.

How does it compare to the AXE FX II. Which rig do you prefer?

BTW what are you guitars?

Peace,

James

In all honesty I find those rigs are substantially different - I love them both! For portability, flexibility and recording I would choose the AxeFX hands down ( I record direct to DAW so the AxeFX is the only way to go for me). For pure live sound quality and feel the analog rig has my hair standing on end right now! I am not using the effects too much at the moment (but the real deal MuTron kills my AxeFX WAH block and Protron stomp) - I am just loving the Cpt. Trips amp and spending my hours of playing tweaking settings and exploring that thing.

In terms of guitar - I use this most of the time:

But also use Ibanez MC-300 (blonde on blonde) and Larrivee DR-03RE regularly.

I also have the Aykroyd vodka skull!
Thanks man and ya - the AxeFX is the go to back saver - the rack is just me induldging my fantasy and learning some wood working skills  It will remain studio furniture unless I have a really good ($$$) incentive to haul it out.

Nice Job!

Looks very similar to the Rack I reverse engineered the spec's for and had Tracy over at SSP build for me for a friends project I did a couple years back. I custom modded a GCX Audio Switcher just for the project.

Thanks waldo - full credit to both you and Tracy. I actually reached out to Tracy to discuss having him build one based on the work you two did but he encouraged me to give a shot on my own. I wasn't able to figure out the back side of the shelving and decided to do a few intentional deviations (keep inside unpainted and add strips at the top and bottom for some rare earth magnets. Really appreciate both of you putting that project out there to inspire us!

Nice! I have a chrome D75 also! That's one heavy beast! Do you run a to one speaker and b to the other? Its a great sounding power amp but the two channels are a bit of a conundrum to me. I just can't bring myself to lug around two speaker cabinets. I pretty much leave one channel empty of tube and in standby. Greg...

Thanks Greg. I run it the same way you do. Mono with one channel in stand by. The kt88s sound pretty good in it. I am trying to get some sound clips posted soon.

I absolutely love the dark wood Wolfs! Could you indulge me and please post a larger pic of that rig?! It's really nice looking--well done.
