General reviews of the Fender Mustang digital modeling amps seem to speak highly of the Mustangs' classic Fender amp sounds like the '65 Twin. Does anyone have any experience and opinion on these amps in assisting with Jerry tone?

Love my Gdec 30 and still use it in the bedroom. For live play it is not so good. I have tried every which way to Sunday to make it so, but it is not. There is something about the digital stuff when amplified through the PA or something other than the Fender FRFR system it looses its clarity and tone significantly. To mic the Gdec you have to mic the horn and the speaker to get the tone you are use to hearing. I just got a HRD III and simply LOVE it. Much louder than the Gdec and way more true fender blackface sounding. It can knock out jerry tones all day long and I think they are running $699 at GC (2x -6l6GC and 3x-12ax7). After some minor swaps in the tone stack and the plate resistors it will be a monster. I am very happy with it stock tho. I like the overdrive, very easy to get a slight crunch from it for that rough clean tone. Some gave it bad marks on its heavy overdrive, but hell, we all have pedals that do that better. I don't think its really that bad, it may be the fact that Fender used celestine GP30 in some and eminence Fender designs in others. I got the celestines.
