Hey guys,

Anyone ever tried to coerce a Jerry Tone out of Music Man HD 130? I just picked one up for super cheap. Couldn't resit...

The speakers are original but sound a bit harsh (and weigh SOOO much) so I might pull em in favor of an ext cab.

Thoughts?

From what I hear they are awesome amps. Never had one but some huge names used the exact amp, like Mark Knopfler. It is basically a Fender blackface amp that evolved with Leo Fender rather than CBS. I can't imagine it being a bad amp at all. Leo prolly made better adjustments to the circuit tone wise, than CBS did with the Twin Reverb. Grab you some Eminence Commonwealths and you will have a tone machine, or JBL's too of coarse. Nice find! What year is it?

I just sold my HD-130 head - great sounding amp, however, I'm pretty sure it had EL34's.

I believe it's a 1977.

I'm debating between Emis or Webers. Being a solid-state pre-amp, its a little trippy how tube-like it sounds. And yeah; those EL34's are can be LOUD.

Peace,

Hey Now,
I have 2 of these and another buddy of mine also has one.
I have the HD 135 head and run it into a Psychedelic Liberator from Hard Truckers and it kills. This is my main amp because it is easy to move around.

I also have the HD 135 with 4- 10 inch speakers. this mother is heavy, really heavy. Johnny Winter actually played it for a gig at our place. He has been using Music Man amps for years.
Clapton played one for a long time and I remember Weir used one for a while around '75 I think. Knopler also

These are killer amps> I usually play it clean with an Ibanez Tube Screamer when I want to dirty it up. Lots of fun........
