Hey everyone,

I have been a lurker here for a while (lurker all my life however), and I wanted to register finally. My first show was Philly Spectrum in 1985. Played guitar since I was 10 or so, but never got any good. I hit the big 40 and started to take lessons again and practice more. My poor teacher I think is getting tired of trying to teach Garcia's stylings to me, but I am like Ahab with his white whale fixation.

I love the boards here, for all the focus on what I love...

I am hoping to maybe find some folks around here who want to jam and put a band together ultimately.

Feel free to say hello.

Thanks to everyone for the greetings.

I was really fascinated by all the discussion about the equipment and playing. It makes me realize how much there is to know about equipment, and how it all comes together (or not). I want to be involved but I don't want to post repetitive threads. I want to share my own quest for that elusive sound, as well as the tale of putting together rig I want to build. And also some of the adventures of trying to learn to play in the style I want to play... Uh, like Jerry.

I guess I just don't want to interrupt the flow of threads and posts, so I don't know how that is looked upon here.

In any case, thanks to all for the welcomes.

That's to be commended! I tend to wish newbies would use Search a little more before posting new topics that try to start well-worn subjects from scratch, and I personally prefer seeing old threads revived (after first being read of course).

Couldn't agree more! Nothing is sweeter than seeing a neophyte jump into a thread that is old but filled with wisdom and add new life to it with unique questions, clarifications or tested theories!

Well, there is a whole bunch I don't know about equipment, so I have no clue where to start. Best example is the fact that I am getting a Wolf replica made by Chris Michas (pics attached of it in the spray booth) and I have very little knowledge of the electronics, the built-in effects loop and how it all sort of comes together in a rig. I have had a lot of trouble getting the MUTRON working right, which I went to great lengths to procure and repair. Read the old John K. interview where he says he couldn't get it to work right either, and uses the Q-Tron, but of course I have seen his rig recently with Furthur, and sure enough there is a vintage MUTRON in it. I wonder if they sported him one of Garcia's... Where to even begin...
