I don't know if anyone's mentioned Simon and Garfunkel. Also CSN(Y), Phish, Disco Biscuits, KISS, King Crimson, Yes, Nirvana, the Band, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Pink Floyd, Pantera, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Talking Heads, Hootie & the Blowfish, Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soul Asylum, Cheap Trick, AC/DC. I enjoy this stuff.

Oh, also there's a local band in my neck of the woods that my guitar teacher plays bass in. They're called Freak the Jones. It's hard to describe their sound other than as "kick-ass rock n' roll". Check 'em out.

How about Gov't Mule? I can't get enough of Warren Haynes these days. There's plenty of samples of his band's music online. One of my newer favorites is this funky swamp bluesman from Bossier City, LA who calls himself Papa Mali. He played at Warren's Mountain Jam a few weeks ago at Hunter Mountain, NY, and I sat enchanted in front of my computer monitor all weekend as they had a live audio / video feed going on
