If you you type "Grateful Dead baseball Caps" into the Amazon data base you get about twenty pages of examples pop up including a dozen or so popular novels. Each novel has a small excerpt which almost invariably includes a description of someone like "He wore black boots and Jacket and a Grateful Dead ball cap". Occasionally it's "He wore a ball cap and a Grateful Dead T shirt."

Apparently wearing Grateful Dead gear is now a descriptive literary device used in American popular fiction. Some Deadhead researcher should check this out.
