So I had to bail on my plan to see Furthur at Red Rocks so I'm compensating - I saw Willie Nelson last night in Roanoke, I'm going to see Richard Thompson next week and Merle Haggard in about a month.

Willie was awesome. I've listened to some recent recordings and his guitar paying seemed a little shaky but he was on last night. He did a rapid fire through 30 songs or so at a pace only the Ramones could keep up with :-) His son, Lukas is damn good as a player and singer. Willie's sense of melody is really fantastic. Pretty damn good for an 80 year old!

Here's my favorite tune of the evening - one of my favorite Django Rinehart tunes, Nuages.

Love Willie.
He is playing at the Cap theater in Portchester this Wednesday and we are playing Garcia's bar in the lobby as soon as his show ends. Promoter trying to get Willie to show up at Garcia's after. Would be great.

That would be awesome! His son Lukas is pretty darn good too.

Thanks for sharing that. That is awesome! If I practice enough for the next 32 years maybe I can be that good by the time I'm 80. :hail:

And you see what happens if you play a classical guitar with a flat pick...
