I used to tape a lot of live shows off of FM radio, and also managed to tape a small number of shows in the audience. My tapes have been sitting in boxes for decades. Finally started working with a couple of folks (Rob Berger at LL & Kovinis at Tapecity) to bring some of them into digital and share them with the community. Am trying to only share the stuff that there aren't other versions of, or where mine is of higher quality.

It will take some time, but two shows are out so far:

Sea Level 1978-10-02: http://www.tapecity.org/showthread.php?t=34581
JGB 1980-02-16: http://www.shnflac.net/details.php?id=9 ... abcff2d2f8

So, fire up those bit torrent clients and have at it.

A few weeks ago I gave away about 200 really great tapes to a buddy. I haven't listened to any cassette tape in years.

The other day my buddy called and asked when I wanted them back. I told him "never" he was shocked. I had assumed he knew it was a gift. He is obsessed with Woodstock (he was there) so when he saw I had the GD tape in the box from there he was really excited.

Do you think any of the tapes should be digitized and shared? Did you tape any yourself at shows?

No I didnt do any of the taping. Many were boards and some audience that my buddies taped. I dont know what has been digitized already. And I didnt really have the time (or the desire) to go through them all and sort them and figure out what is what. So I passed them along to another dead head! Plus I dont have the equipment either.

They were a little hard to part with but the bottom line is they were just sitting in my closet for years being wasted.
