Hey folks,
I definitely don't qualify as a taper, but I want some equipment advice. For the last couple of years, I have recorded my band's shows using a Sony HD Mini-Disc recorder. Even with the small mic that came with it, I got some really good recordings. And whenever i could plug into the soundboard, this little piece of equipment really recorded well.
Well, when I used it up at Cactus Jack for the Shakin Bones show, it fell off of the rafter and broke. I need to replace it for the upcoming debut of my new band, The Pranksters, at Dulcinea's in Denver on 10/13. I could spend another $500 and replace the Sony, but want to know if there are any recommendations for a better set up in that price range.
Also, if any tapers out there would like to record this upcoming show, please do! This band is very authentic and sounds great. It's definitely a late 70s Dead sound and we are working up some really cool and difficult tunes for the show. In fact, I'd buy your beers and get you happy!
