However close (or not) this is, I got it off the Eat A Peach version. I play the intro like Amy's 2nd intro post. With the two guitars, they play two different lines for the intro. It would be cool to figure out the other one.

Hey Spilly, I have a silly question for you. I'm looking for the chords/riff for the chorus of Dreams. More specifically each individual guitar roles in the live version. I've figured out both solos and each guitar part for the verses, I just can't seem to get the chorus for some damn reason. Thanks in advance.

Anybody got the main lick for One way out? I'm pretty sure it's off an Em7 on the 7th fret, but I'm having trouble getting the nuances. :? The version I'm working with is from the Fillmore Concerts. Any ideas? Thx in advance.

If I am reading it right, the notes are (from low to high pitch) B C D G# B, which would make the chord an E7 augmented, without the E, but the bass will cover the E note.

The chord is E C D G# B which I believe would be named an E7add m6. I think. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Also, it's not augmented, because augmented is a sharp fifth. The chord as spelled has a natural fifth with an augmented fifth added, but that is also the minor sixth. So I think it would be and add m6, because the natural fifth is there as well. I dunno, thoughts?

You make a good case. If the sharp five has to replace the fifth, then it would be the E7add m6, but if we can have both normal fifth and the augmented fifth, then I'd go with the E7 augmented. I think I'll ask my guitar teacher next I see him.

One thing I know he would say is that it would depend in part on context. He'd also say that it is not an exact science, and that the same notes can legitimately have different names.

Think of C E G A. This could be either a C6 or an Am7, depending on bass note and context.

In any case, it's fun to try working it out.

You may be right. My only question is regarding augmented chords-wouldn't they only have an augmented fifth, not both?

I'd definately agree though that it's not an exact science and it does depend on context or your own perspective alot of the time. And I could have a friendly debate on music theory 24-7. I love to talk about it. Peace:

Hey spilly, thx for the reply. I think I may have it now however. The thing that threw me off was the sound of Duane's slide over the chords in the fillmore version. It made it very hard for me to hear Dicky's part for some reason.

they really flow together well, but once you know one part it's easy to distinguish. What throws me off is Dickey's solo, the simile on the main lick duane plays is hard to distinguish
