thanks for the heads up , i checked out that vh1 show. bobs got the band sounding pretty good, ive watched about half so far. i found myself wandering what it is about jerry garcia that makes his shoes so hard to fill. i mean anybody can cover anybody and i usually thinks its cool, but theres something about somebody playing a jerry garcia song, especially the lead(and the singing) that always leaves me unfulfilled.

I have to agree, Garcia was a musician's musician and it takes something special to be able to mimic something like that. I think it's very humbling to think that it took two very good musicians (i.e. Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring) to fill in for Jerry's spot in the music when "The Dead" were in motion.

Actually, IMO if Herring could've magically aquired Haynes' voice that would've sufficed. I think that's why they used both musicians. On the other hand each guitarist played different songs better than the other. Sharing the songs between the two was key.

Warren Haynes' singing was the main factor for me not enjoying his presence with The Dead. Personally, I enjoyed the line up with just Jimmy on lead and Joan on vocals.

This is on, btw. At least EST, according to DirecTV.

It's really good.

Hey thanks a lot for the heads up un the airing of Ratdog. If wasn't for this post I would have been wasting my time watching something else and would have missed it. Again thanks.

That special was very good I thought. I love the new approach on the old Dead tunes. The jam in Cassidy was great. And that Lazy River was really good to.
Weir Here. Yes, he still is. Thankfully. Keep it going Bobby!
