Is Michigan immune to great bands

I swear, I just can't get over the fact that all the bands I like are nowhere to be found in Michigan.
no Cheese, no Ratdog, no Moe, no ABB, no Umphrey's, no Trey (even though I'm checking him out with Tom Petty, I'd like to see just him), WTF? I guess the "home of rock-n-roll" (Detroit) is fading. Sucks.
Just ventin'. :-x

Michigan is a beautiful place, and, depending on your taste, they are still producing good music, its just not the jam band stuff.

I still go back each year with my kids to "Up North", to play on the sand dunes and the water.

Yep, it sucks bad. I've lived in Michigan all my life, went to college here, and have made a living working here. I have been at the same job almost 8 years, and the buisness is the slowest I have ever seen it. We are half the size of what we were a year ago, and I could be next to go if the economy doesn't pick up. Unfortuante also, because Michigan is a beautiful state, with so much natural beauty to offer and surrounded by and filled with beautiful lakes, o just name a few. Living here has helped me see over 150 concerts for I live within 45 minutes of two big venues, who both have big acts, just none of the ones I mentioned earlier. I hope this is as low as it gets.

I've been living in Mich for the last 7 years and yes, the jam band scene is real weak here. Also like HOWEYMAN wrote, the economy is in a downward spiral as all the manufacturing jobs are heading south. Literally!
