Last Saturday night, I got married
Me and my wife settled down
Now me and my wife are parted
I'm gonna take another stroll downtown

  Irene goodnight,
  Irene goodnight,
  Goodnight Irene, Goodnight Irene,
I'll see you in my dreams

Sometimes I live in the country,
Sometimes I live in town,
Sometimes I have a great notion;
Jumpin' in into the river and drown

  Chorus

Stop rambling, stop your gambling,
Stop staying out late at night
Go home to your wife and family
Stay there by your fireside bright

  Chorus
  Chorus

I like Jer's version of the song, it's very upbeat. I prefer Tom Wait's adaptation better though from his Brawlers, Ballers, and Bastards album. It seems many musicians have covered this song.

Cool! Post the tab and I'll change the title to a mass conglomeration by artist.

After I figured out Jerry's I also figured out Van Morrison's.

That would make 3. Willie Nelson would make 4 if somebody wants to post his.

In the third line, change the Bb to a C7 and the D to a D7 and you're good to go.

Not sure, but I think the first time he performed this was with Dr. John (and John Kahn) so I wonder if the arrangement came from or through him.

I got to see Jerry do this tune with Zero + Merl Saunders at the GG Park Peace Walk 7/16/88... HUGE treat, but it made me miss out on scoring a ticket for the GD Greek show that night!! (although I got to hang out in the tennis courts and hear the music, and I got in the other two nights)

That's the YouTube clip! Yes, in the description it talked about how Jerry had to play a show that night and the opening speak and acts ran late and Jerry had a limo and escort to take him across town!

It's interesting you say that. What I heard Jerry playing I thought I heard that but when he was soloing I thought I heard it the way I transcribed it.

Do you think it's plausible that for the Bb vs. C7 that either the other guitarist or keys played it one way or the other or did my ears only pick up on the bassist emphasizing the Bb over the C7?

when you look at tunes like this people might know them from slightly different versions...they all figure yea we know that one lets play it, but maybe one of them thrown in a different chord from time to time...so yea maybe the keys went to the c while others go to Bb for example....it happens to me whenever i play shady grove with others...everyone plays it jerrys way but i play docs version with an added chord here or there, its a bit more harmonic but not when other people dont play the chords
