Ok, all, here's my very first tab post. Be gentle!

DIXIE CHICKEN by Little Feat

A
I've seen the bright lights of Memphis, and the Commodore
E
Hotel
A
and underneath the streetlamp, I met a southern belle
C C# D A E
Well she took me to the river, where she cast her spell
A
and in that southern moonlight, she sang a song so well
CHORUS
A E
If you'll be my dixie chicken, I'll be your Tenessee lamb
A C# E A
and we can walk together down in Dixieland, down in Dixieland

Well we made all the hotspots, my money flowed like wine
and then that low-down southern whiskey, began to fog my mind

and I don't remember church bells, or the money I put down
on the white picket fence and boardwalk, of the house at the edge of town

oh but boy do I remember, the strain of her refrain
and the nights we spent together, and the way she'd call my name

CHORUS

Well it's been a year since you ran away,
yes that guitar player should could play
she always liked to sing along,
she's always handy with a song
and then one night in the lobby, yeah, of the Commodore Hotel
I chanced to meet a bartender, who said he knew her well
and as he handed me a drink, he began to hum a song
and all the boys there at the bar, began to sing along
CHORUS

Guitar intro

A variation on the intro is like this:

G|--13--13--13--13--13--13--13--13--14--

Then the slide part for after the chorus goes like this:

G|-------------------------9--------------------------------------

E|-----------------------------------------------14---------------
B|---10---10---10---10\8-------10---10---13/14--------14\13-------
G|-------------------------9--------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------------

G|--------------------5/6-----7-----5/6--------------
D|-------------------------7-----7-------7-----------
A|------------------------------------------7--0-----
E|---------------------------------------------------

For some reason, it's not posting correctly, so here are the changes:

(A)I've seen the bright lights of memphis and the commodore hotel (E) and underneath the streetlamp I met a southern belle (A) Well (C), she (C#) took (D) me to the river (A), where she cast her spell (E) and in that southern moonlight, she sang her song (A) so well. If you be my dixie chicken, I'll be your tennessee lamb (E), and we can walk together down in dixie (A)land, (C#) down (E) in dixie (A)yeah, land.

Hope this helps clear it up a little.

right on amy~ i just got home from seeing little feat at the waterfront blues festival here in portland and immediatly went to my guitar to try to figure this one out (the did a sick closer with this where they teased a variety of songs....from what i remember, in order, was: dixie chicken>stand up for your right>gilded splinters tease>china cat tease> dark star tease>dixie chicken.) and they did a drums that i swore they would turn into NFA. although i might have some of that mixed up. anyhow, my first show for little feat, i'm pretty excited. i knew i'd find this tab somewhere on this site. thanks for the help!

thanks a lot, amyjared! I always sing/play this song up untill about the 4th or 5th line, then it all basically goes to hell. I don't trust many other tab sites on the net, due to pop-ups and just plain bad tabs. But once again, this is pretty good.
