How about Time Fades Away by Neil Young? Someone just gave me this album (it's not been rereleased since it was originally put out in 1973). I'd never heard of it. Seems like it's one of the holy grails of the please-rerelease-this-album crowd.

It's fucking amazing, especially if you like Neil Young. ... _album.htm

Blood on the Tracks - Dylan
Marquee Moon - Television
London Calling - The Clash
Loaded - The Velvet Underground
Who's Next - The Who
Rocket to Russia- Ramones
Bitches Brew - Miles Davis
Exile on Main Street - Stones
My Aim is True - Elvis Costello
Allman Bros. At Fillmore East
Band of Gypsys - Hendrix

This list is just off the top of my head, and I'm not even sure if they're all from the '70's as the years have somewhat been strewn together in my mind, but they are, nonetheless, some of the ones that I wore out as albums, then bought as cd's, then bought as reissues or masters or whatever. There are more, many more, and if I get some time, I'll add to the list. -Jared

When I read "1970's albums" my mind jumps straight to the Grateful Dead Label era (Mars Hotel, Allah, Wake, Steal your face, and all the dicks picks)

how come NO record shops sell em? all you can find is american beauty
