Spalted maple top over east Indian rosewood body, brazilian rosewood fingerboard, 24 frets, east Indian rosewood neck with purpleheart and maple accents, onboard effects loop, onboard FET booster, Wald buffer, Seymour Duncan 'Lil 59 (neck), DiMarzio Super II (middle), Lollar Imperial (bridge). Individual volume and tone for all three pickups, plus master volume, 3-way pickup selector with additional 3-way toggle (the "Sarno Switch") which gives traditional Les Paul switching in one position (bridge and neck only), middle only in second position and bridge-middle and neck-middle in the third position. Nitro finish. Copper pickup surround.

Congrats Vic - that is a stunning guitar. The neck join, finsh and pickup mounting looks flawless - I hope to hear some good samples of you running through the different pickups when you get a chance to spend some time with her.

Scott sure does pay attention to details. That is one sweet instrument, Vic. How does she sound? Interesting choice of pickups. I'm sure she sings.

Thanks for the kind words ... I won't know how it sounds till it gets here. Scott says it sounds great, and he's really taken with the 59 neck pickup.

Basically, I wanted to have a guitar with a wide variety of tonal options, but still serve as a backup (or primary) Grateful Dead guitar. I'm writing original music now, and playing with some guys down here in Texas, and my Tiger guitar just says Grateful Dead and nothing but.

So, the Lil 59 and the Lollar are for the Les Paul type arrangment ... which is also why there are individual tone and volume controls for each pickup, so you can set the neck pickup for a clean tone and get the bridge loud and overdriven by flipping the pickup selector.

The Super II is pure Jerry only ... it's wired single coil only.

The 59 and the Lollar are split so I can also get the inbetween positions going with the Super II single coil.

Originally, the buffer was going to be defeatable, but the pickups didn't like having the two volume control in series unless the buffer was active, so Scott put his new FET booster in that switch position instead.

I can also have the bridge, middle and neck pickups on all at the same time, but there's some weird phasing thing happening that Scott hasn't figured out yet. I'll post a wiring diagram and maybe the geniuses here can tell me why.

And yes, you can get a nickel cover for the Super II if you want.

if it plays one tenth of how great it looks it will be spectacular. However knowing Scotts reputation I bet it will play even better then it looks.

That might be the only non-vintage guitar I've ever seen that I'd be afraid to play. Amazingly beautiful!

Sounds like a very cool picukp arrangement, too. Very well-thought-out and versatile. It'll be cool to hear it!

Thanks, guys ... I'm pretty psyched about it, of course. Brad helped me figure out how to get the wiring I wanted happening, and Scott found some terrific wood in his stash for me, I got what was probably his last Brazilian fingerboard, too.

Scott also tried some metal knobs on there, what do you think?
