Some interesting stuff following that CAE Sound link ... eventually, you get to a Youtube video with Warren Haynes talking about his signature Les Paul.

It has the CB-2 in it, and Haynes sez, "when the buffer's on, you can lower the volume on the guitar without changing the tone." But he has a switch installed on there, to shut the buffer on or off?

kimock and i believe sless use the the same thing on there scott walker guitars. i believe scott and cutler came up with it. it has a dual ganged 25k/500k or 250k with a switch. it allows for buffered and unbuffered output(hi z & lo z output). some effects work well without a buffer like a fuzz.
